A pesar de lo dicho anteriormente por Michael Bay, se confirma que la película se estrenará en 3D. No se sabe si se rodará en 3D o será convertida en la post-producción.
El villano de Transformers 3 es "Shockwave, el robot cíclope con en cañones láser, que se convirtió en dictador de su planeta natal Cybertron después de que los otros Autobots y los Decepticons viajaron a la Tierra."
En la nueva película, Sam Witwicky esta "dando sus primeros pasos tenues en la edad adulta sin dejar de ser un aliado de Optimus Prime. "Shia tiene esta gran línea: '¿Sabes, he salvado al mundo dos veces, pero no puedo conseguir un trabajo".
La trama gira sobre la carrera espacial entre la URSS y los EE.UU., sugiriendo que había un papel escondido de los Transformers en ella, uno de los secretos más peligrosos del planeta. "La película es más un misterio", dice Bay.
Transformers 3 es el final de la saga.
